"Never before has there been such a mountain of empirical research supporting a whole foods, plant-based diet. People are beginning to sense the need for change and are beginning to question some of the most basic assumptions that we have about food and health- and are changing their lives for the better." • Here is a great QUICK snack that I love to make for my family when I don't have a lot of time.  It supplies my children with their needed EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids) and their needed GREENS.

And most importantly- it tastes SO GOOD!  They think it is a treat...you can't go wrong with that!

      Chocolate Almond GREEN Smoothie

      Ingredients

      1 banana (I prefer frozen)

2 dates (Optional- depends on how sweet you want it)

2 cups cold water (or 1 1/2 cups water plus 1 cup ice)

      1/4 cup raw almonds

1 TBS ground flaxseed (I usually let my Blendtec blender grind it for me)

1 TBS Cocoa powder (Carob powder works as well)

SPINACH- as much or as little as you want

*Helpful hint:  I like to buy my spinach in large quantities and I place it directly in my freezer.  This way it lasts longer and works GREAT for cold smoothies.

      DIRECTIONS

Simply blend all the ingredients together in a blender AND ENJOY!

      This makes about 3 1/2 cups...about 2 adult servings

PROFILE

My journey started the day I became a MOMMY.  From the very beginning I had such a strong desire to feed my children the best.  And thus I started my quest to find out what exactly is the best.  In doing so, I not only found how to feed my children but also how to feed myself.  One of my greatest joys as a Mommy is when I cook an extremely healthy meal and my family not only eats it, but asks for seconds.  Does my family eat perfect?  I wish I could say yes.  Unfortunately the real world comes into play.  But there is a power in knowing what is perfect...A power in knowing what foods cause disease...A power in knowing how my family and I can live a long healthy life together.  Join me on my never-ending journey of eating that healthy meal and never feeling guilty about asking for seconds.
